Rebirth

These images are some taken from the series ‘Rebirth’ which I created in response to the idea of the memories stored within the home…

“A photograph is a secret about a secret, the more it tells you, the less you know” - Diane Arbus

Hi I’m George and I heart photography. I enjoy creating conceptual pieces based around the idea of memories and the past. I do so, by using a combination of  found photography and researching into the history/stories behind the found images. I have recently completed a project ‘Make Do And Mend’ and have met some inspiring people along the way…

‘Make Do And Mend’ is a documentary piece following the lives of war veterans from the second World War. It documents the individual tales each veteran has of their own experiences from the war, and how each veteran’s home has gradually become their own museum due to their attitude of making do/ mending with what they have. This is shown through images of their lounge spaces in comparison to 1930-1960’s lounge sets featured in various museums. A surprising comparison is discovered when it it difficult to distinguish which lounge space belongs to the veteran and which belongs to the museum.
